Jamal Abedi

JAMAL ABEDI, Ph.D., is a professor at the School of Education of the
University of California, Davis and a research partner at the National
Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing
(CRESST). Abedi's research interests include studies in the area of
psychometrics and test and scale developments. Among his interests and
his recent work are studies on the validity of assessments and
accommodations and opportunity to learn for English language learners
(ELLs). His recent work also includes comparability issues for alternate
assessments for students with significant cognitive disabilities. Abedi
is the recipient of the 2003 national Professional Service Award in
recognition of his “Outstanding Contribution Relating Research to
Practice” by the American Educational Research Association and the 2008
“Lifetime Achievement Award” by the California Educational Research
Association. Abedi has a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in psychometrics
from Vanderbilt University.
