Q. Does the six-page proposal maximum include references?

A. No, you can include your reference list in addition to the six-page maximum.

Q. Does the six-page proposal maximum include tables and charts?

A. If you include the tables/charts as addendums, they will not count toward the six-page maximum.

Q. What if the person writing the letter of recommendation cannot submit by deadline?

A. Given the numerous applications received every year, we will not be able to accept late letters of recommendation. It is your responsibility to ensure that two letters are submitted by the 5 p.m. deadline on Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Letters should be submitted to accordproposal@gseis.ucla.edu. If your application is complete, it will still be reviewed but your overall score will reflect that you are missing components of your application.

Q. Can I submit more than two letters of recommendation?

A. We will send all letters received by the deadline as part of your proposal application to be reviewed.

Q. Who will review my application?

A.  At least two previous recipients of UC/ACCORD Fellowships and Grants will evaluate your application.

Q. How many applicants will receive funding?

A. The number of fellowships awarded depends on the funds available every year.

Q. If I receive the Dissertation Fellowship, am I allowed to work during the year of funding?

A. Yes.

Q. Will the Dissertation Fellowship also pay for my tuition fees?

A. No, unfortunately UC/ACCORD cannot pay for tuition fees. The award only includes a $20,000 stipend and travel to the UC/ACCORD 2013 Conference.

Q. What if I am not ABD by June 19, 2013?

A. Your application will be reviewed regardless of your ABD status. However, you must be advanced to candidacy by June, 19, 2013 to qualify as a finalist.  If you cannot provide proof of ABD status, you will not be able to continue with the competition process.
